I am always trying to think of the best information I can share with my network marketing team to guide them to success. Anytime I can help my team, it helps them to get what they want and helps me to build my business too. The same goes for you! Take a moment and visualize the most successful network marketing leader you can. Is this person positive? Would you say they are optimistic? Do they handle their business graciously? Do they communicate with their team in a positive way? To be a good leader and network marketer, you need to STAY POSITIVE.

When you are negative, you attract negativity. Network marketing is a lot of work. You need to be ready for people to say no, not everyone is going to say yes. If you have a rough day, ditch any attitude you have at the end of the day and start the next day with optimism. The minute you believe things won’t get better…guess what? They won’t. My network marketing tips come from experience! Be positive and grateful and success will come your way.  You won’t just have a better business, you will have a better life.  There will always be bumps in the road and things to complain about.  It is up to us from moment to moment, what we choose to focus on.

No business can exist without customers! If you aren’t talking to people, you aren’t bringing in new business. You should be talking to as many NEW people as you possibly can, whatever ways you can. I suggest setting a goal of how many people you want to reach out to daily. It really is a numbers game and you have to be persistent. I’ve had a lot of success with reaching out to people online. If you want to learn more about how I do that, check out my blog post on generating leads. I would highly recommend talking to leaders in your company. Ask them what numbers they hit daily so you get really get a sense of what you need to do to be a network marketing rockstar!  Surround yourself with the people who are making it happen.  Success really does leave clues.

3. Don’t Give Up!

Many people in the network marketing industry don’t give their business enough time. People think success should come sooner and or with less effort…Surprise! It doesn’t. If you work hard, stay positive and reach out to as many people as possible, your chance of success is very high. I have found that educating yourself on what you are up against can really help. Here are some of the obstacles I have experienced in my career.

– Your upline may quit or jump to a new company.
– You may not have a system to follow.
– At times, you won’t feel like showing one more person your opportunity.
– You will over analyze what you need to know first to get started or to restart.
– You will wonder if this is for you.

You will have people on your team that you just can’t get along with.

_ Your company will make a decision that you think you can’t get over.
– You will wonder if the time you have put in is worth the money you have made.

People will think you are crazy for staying with it.

4.  Make Sure You Give Your Business Enough Time.

I mean this both in terms of the hours you devote each day and each week but also in terms of your long term view of making this work.  Most people don’t give this enough time each week and many people don’t have a realistic view of how long it should take so they quit too soon.  What if you were 3 feet from Gold?  What if the next person you talked to was the leader, the partner you were looking for?  That is actually one of the things I love about this profession, from one day to the next your business can change dramatically.  I find it very exciting.  Make sure you carve out at least 5 hours per week to build your business.  10 hours per week is even better!  If you do that, you will get to the place where it is rolling and you want to give it even more.  Set goals for where you will be in 5 years and 10 years with your business.  Short term goals are great but when you set a longer term goal too, it helps you create that vision that pulls you forward when it gets or feels hard.

Nothing worth having ever comes easy. After many years in the network marketing industry, I know that following these network marketing tips CAN and WILL lead you to success. I have seen hundreds of men and women in our profession build successful businesses and I know you can too.  It is there for the taking.

5 Reasons to Never Give Up on Your Dreams!

Throughout my career, there have been times when it seemed easier to quit than to keep going.   Sometimes, the amount of work it takes to get where you want to go can just seem too much.  There were times when I felt envious of my friends that were going to cocktail hours and relaxing at home watching TV when I was working.  Night after night of home parties was exhausting at times.  There is a tradeoff to get what you really want.  You have to give in on something in order to really go for what you want. Sometimes it can feel like things aren’t working out and there is nothing you can do about them. I am here to tell you, when things get hard, don’t give up! Life is about “failing” and learning. And I say “failing” in quotes, because honestly there are no real failures, just lessons.  Just a chance to do better next time.  The most successful people, fail forward.  Follow your dreams and never give up on them. Here are 5 reasons to never give up on your dreams that have helped me in times of doubt.

1. Failure is a part of life. Understanding this can be a great motivation to never give up on your dreams. If you find you are failing at certain aspects of your business, don’t panic. Failure is a learning experience. It’s how we figure out what to improve on. Some people stop dead in their tracks when pursuing their dreams because they are so afraid of failure. Don’t be one of them.  The worst thing that can happen is you find out that technique or that closing or that approach didn’t work so well.  So you fine tune it and you are better the next time.

2. You don’t want to spend your life wondering…”what if?” We only have one life to live, don’t reach the end of it wishing you had followed your dreams. If you have always wanted to be a rockstar, then pick up a guitar and start taking lessons. Your life will be better because of it. It helps to really narrow down your dreams and describe them in detail. Starting is often the hardest part! By breaking your dreams down into smaller goals, you can work your way to the top.  Think about what you would say to your kids about their dreams.  Of course, you would tell them to go for it.  Treat yourself the same way.

3. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, as the saying goes. One way to never give up on your dreams is to keep pushing. Stay persistent and it will give you strength. Take riding a bike for example. It is one thing most of us learn to do as children (and one of the most painful, lol.) It takes us several tries and scraped knees, but at the end of the day we become stronger for it and more likely to succeed in our next venture.  Sometimes, life can throw you too many curve balls at once and you can feel like, okay, I have enough character already but it is true, it all does weave together to become our story, to be a part of our journey.  Never take for granted or assume you know what someone else has been through.  It is amazing when we really take the time to listen to an older person’s life story, how much challenge and hardship there has usually been mixed in with all the good things.  If you were 90 years old, what would you say today to your younger self?  What would you want the younger you to do?

4. It’s about the journey, not the destination. How many people do you know that went to college for one subject, but then ended up working in a totally unrelated field? When you have a dream, it can lead you to new dreams. By pursuing our dreams, we learn more about ourselves and what we really want. If we never try, we not only never know if we could do it, we lose all of the growth that happens along the way.  My very favorite part of the network marketing profession is the personal development that happens along the way.  Proof that the journey is the best part.  Achieving a rank is great, but who did you become in the process of getting there?

5. Your dreams inspire others! This is so important in the network marketing profession. By never giving up on my dream to reach one of the highest ranks in my company, I know I have inspired many people who are now very valuable team members. People want to work with leaders who inspire them. Who set the example.  When you share your dreams with your team, then they in turn are encouraged to share theirs.  You never know what sharing your story will mean to someone sitting in the audience.  Someone may come up to you years later and say that the day you spoke, they made a decision that changed their life.  Our words, our examples, our stories are so incredibly powerful.  Never take for granted how meaningful it is to dream your dreams AND to go for them.  One foot in front of the other.  People really are watching!

I hope this has give you more reason to never give up on your dreams! If you ever get discouraged or start feeling negative, use one of my favorite tricks. Take a pencil and a piece of paper and write down dreams you are thankful for that you have accomplished. Think of how you felt when you achieved that dream and let the negativity slowly melt away. Keep on dreaming and don’t forget…NEVER GIVE UP!

Being Grateful Leads to Success!

Two weeks ago in Tahiti I started reading “The Magic (The Secrets)” by Rhonda Byrne. It seemed like a great book to start this summer! In “The Magic”, Rhonda Byrne shares her life-changing knowledge of gratitude with the world and tells how to apply this knowledge in your everyday life. By having gratitude for the things in our lives, by living in the mindset of abundance, we can truly change how we think and feel. By learning how to have gratitude, we can better ourselves, our business and the lives of others.  Some of you may not believe in the law of attraction or may have even really disliked the movie The Secrets, but seriously what do you have to lose?  Some negativity?  Some stuff in your life you don’t want anyway?

So how exactly does it work? Here is one way to think about it.  People either think in terms of scarcity or abundance. If you are thinking in terms of scarcity, you are always focusing on what little you have or what you don’t have. Someone in this mindset, especially in the network marketing industry, might say “I’m not going to make any money.” By focusing on this negative thought, you are making it more difficult to invite in opportunities to make money. You attract what you think. What you think actually becomes your reality.  On the other hand, if you are the type of person who thinks the glass is half full, you will not stress yourself out over what you don’t have. Instead you focus on what you do have! It is the concept that there is plenty out there and enough to spare for everybody. Being grateful open the door to new possibilities, options, alternatives, and creativity. Once these doors are opened, there is no stopping you!  My husband, Mark is the most positive, optimistic person I know.  It drives people crazy sometimes how “lucky” he is or that he is like a cat with nine lives, but the truth is because he is so incredibly positive, great things continue to happen for him.

So what can you achieve by being grateful? Anything you want! Byrne says to make a list of everything you want, but get really specific. When you accomplish something cross it off the list. If you want to travel, then write down exactly where you want to go, how you plan to get there and what you would see and do. Dream boards are a great tool for this! Sometime soon, I will share some of my dream boards.  I am still amazed at how exactly some of them have come true!  I love putting up pictures on Pinterest, it makes it so easy.

If you want improved relationships, write down the relationships you want to improve, and what you want them to be like. Visualize exactly what you are looking for. If you want to improve your business, sit and write out your goals and be as specific as possible. Byrne strongly urges you to find the time to maintain a list of your dreams throughout your life. Write down the little things, the big things, or what you want this moment, this month, or this year. As you think of more things add them to the list and as you receive things, cross them off the list. To make this process easier, she provides a list of categories to get you started! When you tune into the things you want, you are giving a definite direction for gratitude’s magic to work in.  I have been a major goal setter for most of my life especially the last 12 years but I am excited about creating this list with this intention.  I am going to keep this list really simple in an excel spreadsheet.

  • Health and Body
  • Career and work
  • Money
  • Relationships
  • Personal desires
  • Material things

Being grateful can change your lfie!

With so many things going on in our lives causing us stress, it can be hard to focus on gratitude. The book explains that when you are starting to feel irritated or upset by things, this is the best time to focus on the good things you do have. If you are upset by a problem at work, focus on the thought that you have a job and you are fortunate to be employed while many others aren’t. Always seeing both sides will help you gain a better understanding and help you move from a negative mindset to a positive one. Rhonda suggests making a list of 10 blessings you have in your life and writing down exactly why you are grateful for them. Read the list out loud and say the magic words….”thank you, thank you, thank you!”  While I was at the beach today, I thanked everything that I could see – the sand, the waves, my niece swimming in the ocean, the sun, my sunglasses, the shells, etc…  You get the idea.  On our vacation to Tahiti, I admired so much how the locals thank the fish, the ocean, the sharks, their boats.  They call out thank you to what seems like random things to most of us frequently.  Between listening to them and reading about gratitude, I committed to being even more grateful and feeling more blessed more of the time!

You Should Take a Vacation!

Taking a Vacation…Greetings from Tahiti!

I am writing from the beautiful beaches of Tahiti! Things have been hectic with work (in a good way), but sometimes you just need to escape to the beach for a little R&R. Prepping for my trip made me realize just how important taking a vacation is! Overworking yourself can hurt your business. Here are my 4 reasons why we should take a vacation this year.
Take a Vacation!
When was the last time you took a vacation? It is important to slow down and make time for yourself. It can be hard to step away from the laptop, or turn your cell phone to “do not disturb”, but it is SO important to try. Taking a vacation can mean taking a trip to Tahiti, or just having a spa weekend staycation. Whatever form the vacation takes, just make sure you are giving yourself a chance to relax.
1. Taking a vacation will actually make you more productive! You may be focusing on how much work won’t be getting done, but if you know you are about to take a week off, you will be surprised to see how much work you can complete before your vacation starts. Having deadlines keeps our work flow going. Never scheduling breaks or vacations just invites you to work the same amount over a longer period of time. Work smarter, not harder.  I went through a pile of papers that were nagging at me just before we left.  Pushing myself to get through them felt great once they were done!
2. Relationships can suffer when you are over worked! When you work late, you miss out on your friends and family. These relationships are important in life and for home-based businesses. Working from home makes it especially hard to start and end work at reasonable times, but trust me, your friends and family will thank you for it! Take a vacation with your kids or husband – make time for the ones you love. Every year my best girl friends and I take a weekend trip to Napa for a weekend of fun and wine tasting. I don’t always get to see them, so this time is so important to keep those bonds strong.

3. Taking time to do something you love is a major stress reliever! After a few hours (or even a day) away, you might come back to your work much more refreshed and ready to accomplish a difficult task. Sometimes, when you get stuck, all you need is to walk away from what you are working on and you might find the answer right in front of you!

4. If you don’t take time off you can burnout! Burning out happens when people do not take breaks from their work. When you are working too many hours a day, you will start to hate the work that you once loved!  Think of your long term career – you have a lot of time to accomplish everything you need to. Take a vacation and focus on something else for a week so you can come back to the office refreshed and excited to work.  Hope you enjoy these photos of Tahiti.  We are having a blast and I expect to come home refreshed and ready to go again!

Generosity is the Key to Success

Understanding the Key to Success and How it Changes your Life!

I recently read something from Benjamin Franklin that really stuck with me. “Among the many truths I have witnessed: Wealth is not his who has it, but his who joyfully shares it.” Sometimes we get so caught up in our work and everyday lives, that we forget to give back. Franklin understood that the happiest people were those who shared their success with others. I believe that generosity is the key to success! Understanding this can not only change your outlook on life, but your business as well!  People are drawn to people that really care and that give from a place of abundance, no matter what their financial situation is.

Giving Back Gives Us Purpose….

One of the most important benefits of giving back is the feeling you get when you do it! Money cannot buy you happiness. When we help others and utilize our skill sets for the greater good, we get a wonderful sense of achievement. I once read an article about a case study in retirement homes. Dozens of people were interviewed on their deathbed and asked what are the things they wish they had done in their life. The number one answer was – I wish I had done more things that make me happy. To me this means focusing on much more than monetary success. This means happiness based helping others more instead of helping ourselves. (sounds like our business model!) You have a major advantage now because you know one thing you can do to improve your entire life: help others and do what you love! You can also apply these concepts to your business.

Giving back creates goodwill. This will give everyone on your team a feeling of happiness that acts as a great source of motivation. You can’t motivate people, that comes from within, but you CAN inspire them! Having a company that focuses on giving back will make for a stronger, happier and more motivated team.

One thing that I love about my business is that we have a built in system that allows us to donate money to charities around the world. This program is giving children the rights they should’ve had from birth: the claim to health, the opportunity to learn, and the protection they need to grow. I know that every time my business sees success, it is shared with others. How does your business give back to the world?

5 Ways to Stay Focused During Summer!

Wondering How to Stay Focused When the Beach is Calling You?

Working through the summer months can be very challenging, especially when you are running your own business! With kids out of school, and vacations right around the corner, it can be hard to stay focused on working. Instead of getting distracted with all the fun things these sun-filled summer months have to offer, make this work in your favor. Over the years I got creative to make my vacations and life work for my business. Now I get to enjoy a booming business and the BBQs and trips to the beach all at the same time.

Here are My Best Tips to Help You Stay Focused When the Beach is Calling You!

1. The sun is shining, birds are chirping and you….well, you need to make phone calls! One trick I found was getting a good quality headset for my phone so I could take walks and make calls at the same time. I always bring a small notepad and pen in my pocket just in case I really need to jot something down. Or I just send myself a text message right away.  You never know, the fresh air could inspire your next big idea. Stay focused by working while enjoying the things you want to do!  It is a good idea to take hourly stretch or walking breaks.  I have been known to sit at the computer for hours on end – it isn’t easy to push away but better for our bodies and mental clarity when we do!

2. Make sure you have enough energy! There can be a lot going on during the summer as far as events go, so budget your day wisely and make sure you get rest. We live in a sleep deprived culture.  If you aren’t getting at least 7 hours sleep a night, then you are prematurely aging yourself.  I am not an early to bed, early to rise kind of person but I do most nights get at least 7 1/2 hours.  Start your day off with a good breakfast, vitamins and maybe a strong cup of coffee! Think about what the word breakfast means: you are breaking the fast and jump starting your metabolism.  Set a goal to eat within 30 minutes of getting up in the morning.  If you fuel your body with what it needs, it will provide you with stamina to get your work done AND have fun.

3. Social events like picnics, family reunions, bbq’s, birthday parties and swim club parties are a great place to network and talk about your business and attract new team members. Be READY to talk about your business. Stock up on business cards that you can hand out when you are attending fun summer events. DO NOT oversell, or be too pushy with people – they are there to relax! Keep the conversation light, but highlight a few key points about your business. When someone asks you how you are or someone asks you what you do, be enthusiastic about how you have found a better way and how much you love having your own business!  Let them know about what amazing things your business is allowing you to do. That will speak for itself! Keep cards and samples handy so you can connect. If your company has great before and after pics, know how to get to that link quickly so you can flash them on your smart phone while you are chatting with someone.  And don’t wait too long before reaching out to follow up with people.  Your speed in getting back to them will prove to them that you are serious and professional.

4.  Don’t think you have to skip vacations to keep up with work! Stay focused and know that you can make your trips work for you. Talk to as many new people as you can and get the chance to know them. Networking is important in any industry and can often be easier when you have mai tais in hand. People are also more relaxed and open to having conversations, just always remember to keep it light.  That person sitting next to you on the chaise lounge may become your best friend and best business partner.

5 Ways to Stay Focused During Summer!

5.  Stay focused during summer by fine tuning your time management. Keep everything on a calendar and make sure you are giving yourself enough time to complete your tasks. This is especially important if you have kids since they will be out of school and have a lot of free time. Good thing teenagers sleep in because that is when I get a lot done!  If you are working from home and need some dedicated quiet time, try to find a great summer camp that your kids will love.  Sometimes when the kids are home, I also take a “work break” by walking down to the local coffee shop.  The kids get to stay home and I get to focus and dig in for a couple hours.  If your kids are young, then schedule some play dates with other parents so you have a few extra hours a week to work.  You can also stay focused while on the go by sending out a few emails or making some calls while waiting for your kids to get out of practice. Always think of how you can multitask your way to success!  You really can build your network marketing business in the nooks and crannies of your day!  In the summer, it feels even more important to be focused on the A level activities.  You know the ones that make your bank account happy!

I hope these tips help you navigate your work life during the tempting summer months! The dictionary defines inspiration as “the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.” The first thing you need to do to build your business, is INSPIRE people to join your team. Get them excited to participate in your business and to build their own business. Money is usually a popular way to inspire someone, but in the long run, the more ways you can inspire someone, the more they will motivate themselves. Inspire people by showing them they can have financial success. Inspire them by showing them you can follow your dreams, achieve goals and travel the world – anything is possible.  How do you do that?  How do you actually inspire someone?  By becoming that person that they would want to follow.  By living by example!  By letting them see exactly that you are doing what you dream about and that you are taking your business seriously – they will follow your example much more than allow you to “motivate” them.  Motivation is something that comes from within.  We actually can’t give another person the motivation to do something.  They have to choose that.

One of my favorite ways to inspire new people I meet is to share my own personal story. After working for other people in great big American companies for more than twenty years, I realized I needed to break free of the corporate world and start my own business. I didn’t want a boss or to be on someone else’s schedule. And I wanted to take lots of vacations! That’s when I was introduced to network marketing.

Everything in my life has changed because I said yes to network marketing. It has positively impacted my physical, financial, and spiritual life. And even my romantic life changed too! One of my network marketing friends introduced me to the man who is now my husband. Today I am married to the love of my life, Mark and together with his three wonderful children, I have the family I always wanted.  That story and your story is what inspires people!  Inspiration is what gets them to want do do more, to strive for more and to do more.  We are very well paid story tellers in our profession.

How to Increase Sales by Setting an Example!

The dictionary defines motivation as “the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.” When people ask me how they can motivate someone, or if I can help them motivate someone, I cringe. Motivation truly comes from within.  Inspiration comes by setting that example.  Trying to motivate someone to do something they don’t want to do or aren’t ready to do, isn’t any fun at all and creates resistance. Move away from that and work with people that are inspired by the example you set….If you feel like you are pushing a boulder up the hill trying to get someone to do something you think they should do more than they want to do for themselves, then let that boulder come back down the hill.  It is taking valuable energy away from you and you will have so much more fun inspiring people and working with the people who have that motivation within.

Here are some of my favorite ways to inspire by example:

  • Share inspirational quotes and affirmations that help me on a daily basis.
  • Give people the tools I use in my business so they start off on the right foot. This also shows people how hard you work, and what you have to do to be successful.
  • Post images of my travels and all the events I present at. This gives your team an example of how much they could be travelling!  And how important events are for your business.
  • Share photos of all the amazing things my business allows me to do…travel, shopping, spending time with family and more!
  • Tell my story of my journey and share other peoples stories too.  The story is what people will remember!

By inspiring people and working with the most motivated ones, you will build a rock solid team for your network marketing business. With a solid team, you will make more mula and have more fun! For all those wondering how to increase sales, INSPIRATION is the key!

Would you like to know the four favorite words of wealthy people? Here they are:

Multiple. Streams. Of. Income.

We all have multiple streams of expenses… mortgage or rent, phone bill, groceries, travel, and on and on. So why do most people have only ONE stream of income, usually in the form of a job?

Some folks attempt to gain multiple streams of income by acquiring multiple jobs. I hope this isn’t you, because that strategy will drive you into the ground fast. You will work way too hard, and it is truly impossible to achieve wealth when you are trading your hours for dollars.

Wealthy people do things differently. They focus, not only on multiple streams of income, but on two highly leveraged types of income — passive income and residual income.

Generate residual income!

Passive Income means the money comes in without you directly trading your time for it. You could be sleeping, cooking dinner, hiking in the mountains, swimming with dolphins, you name it… the money is coming in.

Residual Income means you build the source of income once, and the money comes in over and over and over again, long after the work is done.

When you have a job, you earn what’s called active income. This means you are paid on work you actively do, most often measured in time. Even business owners often structure their businesses to only pay them in active income, by charging per hour or per project. When I was a real estate agent, that was active income too.  The day I stopped being a real estate agent was the day the checks stopped too.  Since there are only 24 hours in a day, there is a ceiling to this type of income. If you want financial freedom and wealth, you must shift your focus and your efforts to generate sources of passive income and residual income.

Our network marketing profession is an excellent source of both passive income as well as residual income. Wealthy people recognize the leverage in this business model, because it is something that you build once and it pays you continually. Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki have both said if they had to do it all over again, they would build a network marketing business.  Warren Buffet owns several network marketing businesses.  In our business, you earn residual income every single week from all of the autoship orders that are placed in your business. Moreover, as people in your business also enroll new folks, the growth of your business compounds and you are earning large amounts of – you guessed it – passive income! It is for these reasons world-renowned economist Paul Zane Pilzer estimates that between the years 2006-2016, the network marketing industry will have yielded 10 million new millionaires.

How can you earn more passive income and residual income in your own life? Try this approach: Next time you are faced with a business opportunity or a professional project, do what wealthy people do. Ask yourself, “Will this generate passive income? Will this generate residual income?” If the answer is no, think twice about taking on the obligation. If the answer is yes, you are on the right track!  If you are in network marketing already, then take your opportunity very seriously.  We always say treat it like the million dollar business that it is.  Sometimes I wish the cost of entry was actually higher because we value what we pay more for.  Don’t make the mistake that just because your start up costs were low, that this can’t generate huge income for you – and passive and residual income, the best kind!

Also, don’t make the mistake that many do in regards to multiple streams of income.  In our profession, trying to build two or three network marketing businesses will typically get you nowhere.  Most of us have a hard enough time building one extremely successful MLM business, let alone two.  You won’t make twice the money you will make much less trying to ride two horses.  If you are in the right company for you, then focus on that one and go all in.  The rewards are great!

When I made the shift from working income to passive income and residual income, my life changed dramatically. Since I was no longer trading hours for dollars, I finally had the freedom that comes from getting my time back. Moreover, in less than two years, I had leveraged my efforts to build a multi-million dollar business. The best part is, I have never had so much fun and called it work.

Social media is a powerful force in the business world today. In fact, it has changed everything!  In order to stay competitive, you should make sure that social media plays a role in your marketing strategy. I have found in the last few years that social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (to name a few) can be a great way to generate leads, especially in the network marketing industry. The internet allows you to share your message with millions and millions of people all around the world. If you are wondering how to use social media to generate leads, you came to the right place! Using Facebook to Generate Leads

Facebook is the most widely used social media platform. (I went into Facebook kicking and screaming and now I love it.) Worldwide, there are over 1.39 billion monthly active Facebook users. Here are some tips on how to use Facebook to speak with those users. I would start by making a business page for your company. You can use your personal Facebook to market your MLM business, but at a certain point it will work against you because of the 5,000 friend limit. Setting up a business page will also allow you to run ads, which I will discuss later in this post.

First things first, make sure your Facebook page looks professional and includes all the information your leads will need to reach you. Here is a sample from my Facebook business page.

How to Use Social Media to Generate Leads on FacebookYou should be regularly posting to both your personal and business pages. I would suggest posting at least (minimum) one to two times a day. One key way to use social media to generate leads is by giving a natural, soft sell. People are used to seeing many abrasive ads on Facebook. Follow the 80/20 rule: 20 percent business posts, 80 percent personal/value/content.  People love pictures of you and your family and seeing the fun you are having.  Providing value and inspiration in your posts is key!  Keep people informed and entertained so when you do post a pitch for your business, they pay attention. This rule can be applied to Twitter and Instagram as well. Don’t oversell, it’s a turnoff! Also, focus on posting things that show people why they should be interested in teaming up with you. I love posting pictures of my travels around the world so potential leads can see what they can look forward to by signing up! People will start coming to you and asking you what you do and how they can do it to. That’s when you use your building rapport and closing techniques.

Boosting your Facebook posts is a great way to use social media to generate leads. I would suggest posting your product/service or even something like your favorite travel picture and boosting it for $5 to your friends and their friends. Big tip:  If you get traction on a particular post that you boosted, keep boosting it every day to keep it going.  I just met a gal that has over 36,000 likes on her Facebook page just because of that one tip.  You can also target the audience to include the countries you want to build in.  Using a message like “I am heading to Italy, love that my business allows me to travel the world!” or “Heading to Hawaii, who’s coming with me!” will generate interest. People will want to know more! You can also post about your product and boost that post. For example, “I absolutely love this product and the fact that it makes me look 10 years younger in one minute!”. Pair that with a video or image of results, boost it and you will see leads rolling in. Here is a sample video from my friend and team member, Bekki Hurley that went viral!

Commit to reaching out to 5 to 10 people per day on Facebook.  If you will do that for 30 days,  you will be amazed at the conversations you are having with leads and customers!  You can do anything for 30 days.  Make sure you make your messages personal.  Call them by name and comment on something you noticed on their page.  Connect with the people that are liking your posts.  They are already interested – they are there on your page.  Make sure you are responding to any comments on your page.

Now that we have Facebook moving in the right track, here are some other ways you can promote your business and generate leads. I would start by making sure you are on Twitter, Instagram, Youtube and Google +. Maybe that sounds overwhelming.  Pick one of these plus Facebook and get these two going and you can add another one later.  Facebook is still the giant in social media for sure but Facebook is getting more particular/difficult about marketing so it is great to branch out.  You can use an online tool like Hootsuite to schedule your social media posts at once on multiple accounts to make things easier for you. Stick to the 80/20 rule for your posts and just stay consistent. You will start to spark interest and get leads naturally. If you want to speed things up, you can also run paid ads on Twitter and Youtube.

Once you have amazing content that shows people the value of your business and product, it’s time to focus on bringing more people to your pages so they can see it. By reaching out to people in a very conversational way, you can easily get them interested and then present to them when the time is right.  If you show a genuine interest in people and ask them questions, they will share with you what they like in their life and what they don’t like.  It is so true that people don’t care what you know, until they know you care.  This is true online and offline.  If you are the spammer on your Facebook, people will click off and go away.  Our audiences are much more sophisticated now.

One of the best ways to bring traffic to your social media platforms, is to focus and narrow down your audience. I have found one very successful method for this that works with Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. Think of your audience. What keywords would they tag their posts with? What type of keywords would they use to look articles or images?

We can use these keywords to reach out to customers. For example if you promote a weight loss product, then you could search on #weightloss or #weightlosstips on Instagram and start following accounts of people who use that hashtag. Once you follow an account, go to that person’s photos and comment on one. Your comment should not be a sales pitch! Say something like..”I love this picture!” or “You are a talented photographer!”. You will start to see a big increase in follows and likes if you use this method! Target a few keywords each day and set a goal of how many people you reach out to. You can also do this on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

LinkedIn has great advanced search options that can help you target your customers. One tip is to look for people who are already customers and learn about what they like. This will help you reach out to new customers. Use the advanced search options to dial in exactly what your target customer looks like and reach out to people who look like they may be interested in what you have to offer. I would also suggest posting to your LinkedIn profile a few times a week – make sure to follow the 80/20 rule. LinkedIn gives you an option to run an ad for you post. You can use that feature if you want to increase the reach of your message.

If you can spend 30 minutes a day developing your presence on social media, it will start to take off for you quickly.  Consistency is the key – just like with all things!

My Top 8 Network Marketing Tips for Beginners…

Sometimes I stop to think about when I first started in the Network Marketing profession. If I knew everything I know now, things would have been much easier! I would like to share some of my best network marketing tips with you so that you can build your business and cash flow.

If I were a beginner in network marketing:

1.  Start with a great daily routine. If you want to be a top earner, you must be willing to make sacrifices and change your current behaviors to make way for new ones. I like to keep an online copy of my daily routine and check items off the list as the day goes on.  (I am known to be one of those people that puts things on the list that I have already done, just so I can check it off.  ..)

One of the most important network marketing tips…pay attention to “speed works”.  Try to build your cash flow from you business quickly, what I mean by that is you can build this business quickly with speed or you can build in slow and it may be painful.  Go all out – sponsor as many people as you can in your first 90 days.  And teach your teammates to do the same thing.  And if you have been in awhile, then do another burst of energy and go all out for 90 days.  We can do much in 90 days!  Think of it like a sprint.  This business works best when you build it with several sprints.  In terms of training, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Plug into your company training and your upline system.  Do your research online and watch as many network marketing training courses as you can. Build on what is already out there for you!

3. Make sure that the company you join with is internet and social media savvy. Social media is one of the greatest tools in your network marketing toolbox. You want a company that encourages you to share your products online.  Facebook alone has changed how we can build this!  I love the team culture you can create with team facebook group page.  It can be a major asset for your team.  I love and embrace many of the social media sites, instant presenter and screen flow for videos to youtube.  Create videos on a regular basis for your youtube account.  The more value and content you create, the bigger your BRAND is and the more people find you and want to partner with you.

4. Do you love the product you are selling? If you are not excited about the product and don’t use it regularly, it may not be the right company for you. You want people to see how enthusiastic you are about it so they too will be excited.  You have to be a product of your product!  Your own testimonial about your products and services will make all the difference for you.  Keep it real.  Keep it genuine.  And use both your product AND business testimonial to grow your business.  Get good at sharing this – this is your story and you will repeat it many, many times as you build your success.  Get excited about sharing your story at company events and home parties.  Be enthusiastic about your product or service.  A mentor said to me years ago “Can you stay excited about this for a very long time?”  It can’t be the same old, same old to that brand new person you are talking to.  They need to feel like you are as excited and happy about this as the day you started.  Top 8 Network Marketing Tips for Beginners - Go to events!

5. Events are extremely important, and I cannot stress that enough! Events help you build your network and keep you up-to-date with new things happening in the company.  Always, always attend your big company events and bring as many people as you can.  The people there with the most people make the most money.  It is a principle that works in our profession.

6. Have a long term plan. You can incorporate all of these network marketing tips into a daily plan and long term plan. Challenge yourself, but make your goals achievable. I like making dreamboards that I can keep as a reminder of the things I want to accomplish.  I will create a video on the power of dream boards soon.  Give this enough time.  This isn’t about getting rich quickly.  It takes work and time – but it is so worth it!

7. Create your own library of tools that you can share with your team. Hopefully your upline can help you with this, but if not, then you have to put it together so it is simple and duplicatable.  If you freeze when you sponsor or enroll someone because you don’t know what to do with them next, that won’t create the team you want.  Make sure you know absolutely what to do next! Give people all of the tools they need to succeed. I store all of my images, videos and worksheets online so they are easily accessible.

If you want to have a strong team, you must set the example.  Act as if you are that leader.  You CAN learn the skills that make a difference in our business.  The ones that win are the people who show the most presentations.  It is that simple.  Become that leader that you hope to have in your business and one day you will attract that person to you.
