Affirmations for Unlimited Wealth

An affirmation is a phrase that you say over and over again to make a declaration to yourself and the universe. When you say affirmations repeatedly, a couple of things happen. First, you are sending a message to your brain that stimulates a filter that lets in information that we need, and filters out information that we don’t. As you start focusing in on your affirmation, you will start to notice more ways to accomplish your goals. For example, if you focus your mind on generating more leads, you may notice more networking opportunities. If wealth is your goal, investment and business opportunities will be more noticeable to you. Our brain is understanding what matters to us based on our goals and desires.

Having affirmations can help you dial in to your goals and help you achieve them. They also keep you in a positive mind state, which is very important in the network marketing industry.  What we focus on, we create.  What is your self-talk?  You hear you more than anyone else, so be careful what you are saying to you.  A positive mindset and great attitude will change your business – and your life!

I prefer to say my affirmations in the morning so I can set the tone for my whole day. I like to make a hot cup of tea and take a moment to look over my list of my favorite affirmations. Not a bad way to start the day right?

Have you noticed that phone calls are not winning the popularity contest this year? People are starting to respond less and less to phone calls, and I can’t blame them. How many telemarketers call you? How much easier is it to just send a text? No one wants to talk on the phone anymore, let alone strike a conversation with a complete stranger! This makes cold calling even harder. Fortunately, we no longer have to use the phone like in years past to grow our network marketing businesses. In this post, I will share the best alternatives to cold calling I have found over the past few years – this is valuable information folks!

Thanks to the advent of social media and emails, we now have a new way to do business. We can speak directly to our leads through email, social media and text messaging. Everyone is happy. The lead is happy because they can respond to a message with less effort or ignore easily if they choose. The network marketer is jumping for joy because it’s way faster to send out 20 text messages or Facebook messages than make 20 phone calls.  I am not saying don’t make any calls.  Phone calls are still important and should be a part of your marketing efforts AND you want to add texting and FB messages/LinkedIn messages.  Phone calls still work for warm market calls and follow ups.

One of the most important ways to build up your company is to pay attention to where customers want to get their information. We have to recognize that customers no longer really want to talk on the phone – so try not to to rely on cold calling as your main source of lead generation. If someone will not answer a call when it’s their Aunt calling, why would they answer the phone if they don’t know who is calling? Therefore, it is important for network marketers to figure out what type of system will allow the customer to contact the business in a way that they feel comfortable. In the year 2015, it is obvious that the best platform to reach customers or potential customers is through social media and texting via our smart phones.

You want to keep a phone line open so that people can reach you during normal business hours. However, you will soon find that most of your leads will want to reach back to you through email,texting or social media.  I think it is easier and preferable to get the word out about your products and business via social media, texting or emails, rather than cold calling. The leads will be much more accepting if you build a relationship with them online first. It gives them a chance to learn more about you and warm up your proposal. They can look at your website, blog, Facebook page, Instagram – you get the point. They will feel like they know you.  People like purchasing from people they have a connection with.

Then you will not only be welcomed if you decide to call, they may even call you first. In other words, you should use social media like Facebook or Twitter, or email to “warm up” your potential lead. For example, if you have an email list for potential leads, make sure to ask all the right questions to get a response. You can even use the Internet to hold online classes, info summits and meetings to get your potential customer’s attention. Remember that social media, texting and email are how most people prefer to communicate now.  They will talk to you when they are really interested.  You get them interested via all the great tools we have available today.  I personally don’t care for cold calls.  That doesn’t mean it can’t still work and some people love cold calling.  Just making the point that in todays world, it is a good idea to go to where your leads are and speak their ideal language to get them interested.  Social media is a game changer for network marketers.  We can never again say we have run out of people.  Make 5 new social media connections a day (choose your favorite platform – mine is Facebook) and build rapport with them and if you do that for 30 days in a row, you will be amazed at the number of new prospects, customers, and potential for both you will have.

I hope this post helps you get more leads by focusing on the best ways to communicate with them. 5 Tips For Actually Working at Home!

5 tips for working from home!

As anyone who works from home knows, it can be quite difficult to stay organized while in your home office. Although there are many advantages (like avoiding rush-hour traffic or being able to go to work in your pajamas) there are some very real challenges. It can be quite strenuous to keep your home office organized and free of distractions, such as household chores, errands, TV, children,spouses and pets. Not necessarily in that order!  Here are some tips for working from home so you can stay on track!  Especially during the Holidays this can be really challenging, but on the best of days, getting done what you need to in your home based business from your home office is a feat!  I love it and I can’t imagine otherwise but it does take focus and discipline too.  I haven’t had to drive a commute for 10 years and I can tell you, I do not miss it!

1. Remove the distractions. After all, distractions are the number one reason for being unproductive while working at home. Are you tempted by all the wonderful shows you could watch on TV? Or maybe the washing machine and the dishwasher calls you?  And the kids can be a bit demanding too if they are front and center.  As much as possible, keep these distractions out of reach.  Also, I like to keep my office area clean when working from home, that way I am not distracted by the things that need to be cleaned up.  I am someone that needs some order so I often start the day just tidying up my office for a few minute so it “feels good” to me as I am working.

2. Create your own dedicated office space.  It is very difficult to stay focused and motivated if you are working in your bedroom or on the couch. It is very important that you dedicate an area in your house to being your office space. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to keep your train of thought on track if you have a number of distractions staring you in the face because you are working on the living room couch or the kitchen table. If you don’t have an actual room for your home office with a door you can shut, then carve out a real space wherever it is and put a sign up for the family that when you are in work mode, they need to wait…Easier said than done, I know but we do train people (even family) how to treat us.  It is good for your family to see you focused and accomplishing too.   The best way to mentally get yourself into work mode is to create an area that is your dedicated office or space.  Make it feel good to you.  We spend a lot of time working so enjoy your surroundings whether that is a bouquet of fresh flowers, or your favorite music in the background, create an environment that you enjoy.  Simple things really do add up.

3. Keep your office stocked and ready to go. Make sure that you have all the supplies that you need so you don’t have to stop what you are doing to go grab them. I also like to have my favorite teas and healthy snacks stocked so I have something to keep me fueled.  Now that you are ready to go, practice setting aside 2 hours a day for dedicated focus time.  It is amazing how much you can get done when you power through 2 hours of serious focused time without distractions.

4. Set office hours that you will stick to. Just because you are working from home does not mean that you should work random hours. Or work all the time which I have been known to do…If you kind of work all the time, it isn’t dedicated or as focused.  Trust me, it is more fun when you can really dedicate the time to it versus being kind of paying attention to work and the family or other distractions at the same time.  This is a tough one for me but the experts say that you should come in at a set time each day and then leave at a set time.  I am laughing as I write that because that will definitely be a new discipline for me but I am willing to try!  If you have a family, it might be a good idea to keep a sign on the door with your office hours so that everyone in the house knows that your work time is off-limits. That will also serve as a visual reminder for you to keep on working 😉

5. Stay connected! Working from home does not mean you have to be isolated. Sometimes people will say they don’t like to work from home because they feel lonely or they miss the friendly banter with people at the office.  When we work from home, we need to work harder to create that.  Coffee dates and phone calls or quick walks outside can make a big difference.  Keeping in touch with your team on a regular basis can fulfill the personal touch we all need too.  All of these things will also help you remember that you are not alone on the job and keep you motivated.   There are so many advantages to working from home.  I love it and truly can’t imagine having to work in an office anymore but if you are new to this, there are some adjustments to make.  Whether you are new or not, I hope this article gave you some food for thought.  For all of you celebrating Thanksgiving this week, happiest of times with your family.  I am grateful for all of you and our community!

How and Why to Make a Video for Your MLM Business

Videos are a great way to build a network marketing team, however, I like most of us struggle to do them! Very few of us like seeing ourselves on camera and we try to make things “perfect”.  However, sometimes you just have to push past what makes you uncomfortable and do what will reach the widest audience. After all, the field of video marketing is not going anywhere but up.  It’s necessary if you want to generate more leads in a shorter period of time. In this week’s blog, I will provide a few simple tips for generating more leads from videos. I will also show you how to make a video that is engaging and share some tools I use that make the process easier.

Why Are Videos So Important to Your Business? Videos are great for 3 main reasons.

First, they are a great way to reach new prospects. You can share benefits of your business or the product you are selling in a more personal way.  Videos uploaded directly to Facebook have very high view and engagement rates, so you are more likely to reach potential leads by sharing a great video. You can also post your videos to Youtube which is the second most used search engine in the world. Creating great content will naturally bring interested prospects.  And it is like with anything, the more you do videos, the more consistent you are, the more great content you provide – the more people will find you.  Videos more than any other tool help us to be seen as an “expert”.

Second, videos are a great way for people to get to know you. You want to ATTRACT people to you. People will get a glimpse of your personality and your enthusiasm for your business. People actually feel like they know us when they watch us on videos. This is great because you may have team members all over the world and you may not be able to do individual video chats all the time. Video allows you to share your message and energy with thousands and thousands of people.

Third, and most importantly, videos are great training tools for your team. Remember, duplication is key. Any time a tool can be reshared with a new prospect, helps them start building their business faster = more money in your wallet and theirs.  Start creating a library of videos that your team can refer and can use to train people they get to join.

Everyone Can Make a Video…Yes, Even YOU!

I wouldn’t consider myself “tech-y”, but even I have managed to create lots of videos! I am going to walk you through my video-making process and at the end, I want you to try making your own video!

First off,  you will need a way to record yourself! I like to use my laptop. My favorite recording tool is Screenflow because it allows you to record anything happening on your computer screen, as well as the audio.  This is extremely valuable because you can record live webinars or meetings you are hosting online. You can also record right from the camera on your laptop. Screenflow is a great option for PC and Mac users, but if you have a Mac, you can also use Photo Booth. You can also use your smart phone. Use what is natural and easy for you, otherwise it will become a chore. If you do use your iPhone, I would suggest investing in a mini tripod so the video is not shaky.

Pro tip: make sure you have a well lit room! Otherwise the video will look grainy.

The best videos are conversational. It may take you a few tries, but just talk how you would to a friend you met for coffee. Write down key points you want to discuss in the video, but don’t read a full script. If you do, you will sound robotic. Your quirky personality traits really make a video shine, which almost seems counter intuitive at first. Just be yourself! If you find yourself getting nervous, just remember, it’s just a video and it won’t bite you 😉 We are often more critical of ourselves, especially our appearance, but other people are watching to hear what you have to say. They aren’t focusing on your mascara or hair cut.  Believe me, we are our own worst critics!  I have taken 10 takes to do a simple little video and then finally got to the point, where I said enough!  Good enough not perfect is good enough!

Once you have recorded your video, you can post it on Youtube or Facebook. If you want to create a more advanced video, you can add a title page and audio using a video editing program, like iMovie for Mac. You can also pay $5-$25 on Fiverr and have a professional help you add that to the video for you. If your business is well established, I would suggest adding these elements.  Here is an example below of what I mean by a title page.

By using these tips and tools, even I have created great videos. Although it was hard to get over my fear of technology and recording myself, I pushed through it and it was worth it. In the past few months, the traffic to my website has increased exponentially. Now I am challenging you! Make your first or a new video and post a link in the comments section!

How to Find the Best Prospects

Attracting better people is important for both your personal life and your professional life. And the way to do that is to improve yourself! You must learn how to grow if you want to find the best prospects.  A universal law is like attracts like.  And your business today is exactly where you are.  As  you grow, your business will keep up with you.

One of the best ways to improve yourself and become the best that you can be is to make sure that your valuable time is spent only with those that you think deserve it.  Do you think this person is   more successful and smarter than you?  This may not sound very nice but it is a business principle that works.  The saying in our business is to reach up.  It is easier to go the other way but if you want your business to grow faster and to be more solid, then reaching up is a good thing to do.  To do this, you must learn how to use a people filter to determine who deserves your time and who does not. Only decide to prospect those that will bring you up in the world and help you to grow. Self-development will help too, but nothing compares to how spending time with the right people will change and influence your life.  Have you heard the saying that we are the sum total of the 5 people we spend the most time with.  Who are you spending all your time with?  Who is influencing you?  Who do you let speak into your life?

Find the Best Prospects for Your Business

Spending time with the wrong people can have just as much of a negative effect on your life. For example, it is very important that you stay away from negative people because if you spend too much time with negative people, you will start to think like them. That will not help you grow, or achieve what you want from life. Negative people are miserable due to the way they think: they bring the misery upon themselves. They simply complain too much and focus only on their personal problems, which makes their lives even more miserable and hopeless.

It is also important to remember – you can’t change people! So if you want to find the best prospects, don’t waste your valuable time and only spend time with people that are worth it. It is more than okay to make a decision that this person is too negative or grumpy.  It is more than okay to say next.  We are in the sifting and sorting business.  The only person you can change is yourself. If you do that, then you will find that positive people are suddenly coming into your life!

As entrepreneurs and network marketers, our time is very limited. It is important to use every second wisely and only spend time with people that are worth it because the biggest waste of time is to spend it with the wrong people. It is worse than scrolling for hours on Facebook or watching bad TV.  Wrong people do not just take time away from you; they also drain you mentally because they stress you out.

People Filter: Find the Best Prospect in 4 Steps

Using my people filter will help you find the best prospects. If you meet someone new, they should possess the traits listed below if you are going to spend time developing a relationship with them. Remember, it is OK to be picky when choosing whom you are going to spend your time with. Your time is actually your most valuable asset.  Use it wisely.  Here is a list of some traits they should possess:

1. Is the person a negative or positive person? Do they focus on problems or a solution to those problems? If they constantly complain or blame others for their own personal problems, they are not worth your time. Negative people will only drag you down into their black hole.

2. Is the person grateful for what he or she has? Most of us that are reading this blog have it better than 85% of the people in this world. We can eat when we are hungry and have shelter over our head. If a person does not display gratitude then he or she is most likely a negative person and just not worth your time.

3. Is the person a giver or taker? The most successful people are those that give and give. They are successful because they give so much that people love to work with them. It may not always seem like it, but it is true that the more you give, the more you will get back. People who just constantly take are never successful in the long term and are not worth your time.  I heard Tony Robbins say just last week – the secret to happiness is GIVING.

4. Does the person have integrity? Do they say what they mean and mean what they say? Integrity means one always tells the truth and never lies and is always consistent. It means that how they act in one situation is how they will act in all situations – no exceptions. If they lie or cheat to someone else, chances are they may lie or cheat you.  Have you heard the saying: How we do one thing is how we do everything?  Keep that in mind as you are making decisions too.

If a person does not have integrity then you can not trust them and they are just not worth your time.  If a person does not have the qualities outlined above they are not worth your investment. Remember you cannot change other people, you can only change yourself and one way to do so is to change the people you spend your valuable time with. By working on yourself, you will start to attract positive people into your life. I hope this helps you find the best prospects for your network marketing business! One great team member can really make a huge difference and one really bad team member can bring others down too.  Go for the great!  You deserve it!

My Interview with Vince Reed, Network Marketing Nation

Recently I had an amazing opportunity to be interviewed by Vince Reed of Network Marketing Nation. I was able to share my experience in the network marketing industry and I hope it will help you become more successful online as social media marketers.   • The best thing about earning more money is the ability to inspire other people to take charge of their financial situations and become top earners! I have invested in that process over the years and I know it is a great use of my time.
  • What network marketing company should YOU work with? Do your research on the company, but also find a great team with an amazing leader. You should resonate with that leader’s style and integrity.  Your upline can make all the difference for you!
  • If you are just starting out in network marketing: it is important to laugh a lot.  And to bring your own personality into your business.  Just be you.  Don’t try to be anyone else!
  • Learn how to manifest your success! By reading and working with great masters, and consistently practicing spirituality and improving one’s skills with the laws of attraction, you can start manifesting the things you want.
  • Be consistent and always track your progress. A new person to the business needs to think of a BIG VISION and dedicate time to achieving that vision and do that every week.
  • Dedicate time to reaching out to 5 to 10 new people a day or a week (you choose) to build a network. Consistently work on this.  The speed that your business will grow ultimately depends on how many people see what you have to offer.
  • Check your ego at the door – remember: it is not about you, it’s about the team you work with.

How to Be Consistent in Five Steps

Consistency is Key

Learning how to be consistent is the best way to achieve long-term greatness in anything you do – from taking care of your health, your network marketing business or your relationships. However, learning how to be consistent is also the one thing that we humans have the most difficult time perfecting! It is most difficult when we are trying to improve something in our life. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to learn to be consistent in anything we do. In network marketing, consistency translates into making more money and creating the life you really want!

Here are just a few simple steps to learn if you want to improve an aspect in your life and become more consistent with anything you do. Set time aside for actions that will get you further in your career or your personal life. Those goals are definitely worth working on. The rewards are huge and you will never be disappointed. Here are five steps to learn how to be more consistent.

1. Remember to keep THE WHY you are trying to achieve your goals if you are going to stay connected to what you are doing. It is very important if you are going to have a clear compelling vision of what you’re trying to achieve and know why you want to. VISUALIZE the house you want, the car you wish to drive, the life you want for you and your family. This will fuel your fire. I am a big fan of dream boards.  I have a dream board for every major area of my life.  One of these days I am going to create a video showing you my dream boards that I created years ago and show you what has come true from those visions.

2. Do not make a generalized plan to “be more consistent.” It is important to pick your battles carefully. Just pick one or two things that you want to work on and stick with it. It is just a common fact that all of us have a limited capacity when it comes to will power and discipline. For example, a doctor or therapist will recommend that you don’t try to quit something like consuming sweets and drinking at the same time – otherwise you might fail at both. Instead, try to be more consistent with JUST ONE particular aspect of your life, like making more prospect phone calls. Setting specific goals will give you something to strive for. We just can’t achieve everything at once otherwise we will overwhelm ourselves.

3. It is important that you create space in your schedule to work on your goals. Stephen Covey, the highly regarded author of the best-selling “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” once said, “Don’t prioritize your schedule, schedule your priorities.” That distinction may be subtle, but it is also very important. If you are trying to make a specific activity or trait more consistent in your life, you have to build your whole life around it rather then trying to fit it in your normal daily schedule. For example, if you are trying to to build your network marketing business, it is important to set aside a few hours or more each day to do so.  None of us think we have enough time, yet we do find time for the most important things.  If you aren’t getting to something, it may be because you haven’t decided that it is really important to you.

4. You have to improve your willpower and ignore your feelings. That is, you need to ignore that voice in your head that says: “I don’t feel like it!” Anytime you are trying to be consistent at something that is important to you, you will sometimes hear that little voice. You have to train yourself to overpower that voice in your head if you want to learn how to be consistent. You just cannot be consistent without improving your willpower and remembering that you have to practice whatever it is you are trying to improve over and over again, even if you don’t feel like it. It is also important to ignore the negative voices inside your head. You know, those voices that say: “I can’t do this,” or “I can’t seem to stick with this!” or “I’m too lazy!” Just keep working on it and you will get better. Remember, that it is okay if the changes are occurring slowly – it is impossible to be perfect at everything.  One of the biggest mistakes we make in our network marketing business is not giving it enough time – both short term time and long term time.  You have to carve out the time and decide it is unconditional.

5. Most important of all: be realistic – it takes time to practice! Keep in mind that you won’t start out always being consistent 100% of the time but that’s okay. Be kind to yourself! Don’t think that if you miss one workout or one day meeting prospects, that it was a waste. It is okay to fall off the wagon time and time again – everyone does. Just don’t think that because you fell off the wagon that you can’t catch up… you just need to run and catch up to it!  What is that old saying – “It isn’t about how many times you fall down.  It is about how many times you get back up!”

I was honored to be interviewed last month by legendary Ray Higdon – Network Marketing Top Earner and Coach. I love the saying, “Consistent action over time will create extraordinary results.” The activities we have to do to build this business, they are simple. They’re not easy, but they are simple. If you just keep doing the activities and learn the skill set, sooner or later you will be successful in network marketing. The art of inviting, how to close, how to lead people to a decision, how to run a one-on-on, how to host a home party, how to create a following on Facebook and social media – these are skills you need to learn.

It’s like learning a language. The best way to learn a new language is to jump in and immerse yourself. In this industry, you don’t have to take a test. You don’t have to worry about getting ready to get ready. That’s one thing I see a lot of people do. They think they need to learn everything and study before they go out and talk to people. It’s ok to start talking to people literally minutes after you’ve just heard about it. You can say to the person, “I just came across this and I am really excited about this. Are you open to learning about it?”  And then point them to a tool.  Become a professional pointer of tools.

How consistent are you?

Be consistent. I encourage people to spend at least 5 to 10 hours a week working consistently. You need to be the employee you want to give the raise to; the one that you would never fire.  Would you hire you?  Would you give you a raise?  Coming in and out of your business is slow and a painful way to get this going.  Success loves speed.  Momentum happens when you give this bursts of energy and time.
For those who have about 10 people on their team so far…Do you have a running buddy yet? Find a good partner and work with them to help get them going. Then just keep talking to people. This is a sifting and sorting business. There are lots of people you will attract when you have a good product. There are a lot of people who you will attract that want to be customers. We all love our customers, and you are looking for the person who is asking the right questions. You are looking for a people person – someone that is a connector. You are looking for the person who says, “I get this. I am interested. I want to learn more about it!” It takes a handful of running buddies to get your business going. You may have to talk to 200 people to enroll 40 people. If you sponsor 40, the way the law of averages usually works, you will have your handful to run with.  You can change your lives and many others with that handful of partners.  It takes time to find your real running partners.

You Should Take a Vacation!

Taking a Vacation…Greetings from Tahiti!

I am writing from the beautiful beaches of Tahiti! Things have been hectic with work (in a good way), but sometimes you just need to escape to the beach for a little R&R. Prepping for my trip made me realize just how important taking a vacation is! Overworking yourself can hurt your business. Here are my 4 reasons why we should take a vacation this year.

When was the last time you took a vacation? It is important to slow down and make time for yourself. It can be hard to step away from the laptop, or turn your cell phone to “do not disturb”, but it is SO important to try. Taking a vacation can mean taking a trip to Tahiti, or just having a spa weekend staycation. Whatever form the vacation takes, just make sure you are giving yourself a chance to relax.
1. Taking a vacation will actually make you more productive! You may be focusing on how much work won’t be getting done, but if you know you are about to take a week off, you will be surprised to see how much work you can complete before your vacation starts. Having deadlines keeps our work flow going. Never scheduling breaks or vacations just invites you to work the same amount over a longer period of time. Work smarter, not harder.  I went through a pile of papers that were nagging at me just before we left.  Pushing myself to get through them felt great once they were done!
2. Relationships can suffer when you are over worked! When you work late, you miss out on your friends and family. These relationships are important in life and for home-based businesses. Working from home makes it especially hard to start and end work at reasonable times, but trust me, your friends and family will thank you for it! Take a vacation with your kids or husband – make time for the ones you love. Every year my best girl friends and I take a weekend trip to Napa for a weekend of fun and wine tasting. I don’t always get to see them, so this time is so important to keep those bonds strong.

3. Taking time to do something you love is a major stress reliever! After a few hours (or even a day) away, you might come back to your work much more refreshed and ready to accomplish a difficult task. Sometimes, when you get stuck, all you need is to walk away from what you are working on and you might find the answer right in front of you!

4. If you don’t take time off you can burnout! Burning out happens when people do not take breaks from their work. When you are working too many hours a day, you will start to hate the work that you once loved!  Think of your long term career – you have a lot of time to accomplish everything you need to. Take a vacation and focus on something else for a week so you can come back to the office refreshed and excited to work.  Hope you enjoy these photos of Tahiti.  We are having a blast and I expect to come home refreshed and ready to go again!

Slow down and take a vacation.  It is summer – my favorite time of year to take a break!  Invite some friends over for a summer party and unwind with the people you love and cherish.  And plan that next get away.  The beach is calling me….
