How You Can Start Recruiting Before You’ve Achieved Success

How You Can Start Recruiting Before You've Achieved Success

I know that recruiting can be a rewarding AND frustrating experience.  Trying to expand your team takes a tremendous amount of effort and you may not be seeing the results you expected or think you deserve.  You may find that you are doing some of these things below.  If it sounds familiar or if the advice makes sense to you, now is the time to correct.  Correcting and adjusting will go a long way to turn your recruiting success around.

shaking-hands

Partner Up: If you have a smaller team, you should look at partnering with a member and help motivate each other.  Don’t go it alone.  Once you get going, just keep talking with people.  Network Marketing is a sift and sort business.  You will encounter a lot of people that will be attracted to what you and your products have to offer.  From these people, pursue the ones that have great people skills and connect with others easily.  As the process gains momentum, keep adding people to your motivational pack.  Keep your foot on the gas.  Imagine a group of like-minded people all pushing, all enthusiastic, and all supportive together.  You may have to talk to 200 people to enroll 40 people. When you sponsor 40 to 60 people,  the way the law of averages usually works, you will have your first handful to run with.  You can change your lives and many others with that very handful of partners.

bullhorn

Overeagerness: Seeing an opportunity is great but it’s your approach to the opportunity that will set the tone.  Recruiting is like hosting job interviews.  Think how it shifts for you when you read that.  Read it again.  You don’t necessarily want to work with everyone.  You have the golden ticket.  People need what you have to offer them.  Being too eager and offering too much too soon may make some people hesitant and uncomfortable.  Be sure to ask your prospects questions to get familiar with them and a chance for them to get familiar with you.  Take it slow.  They don’t need to know everything all at once.  Let them ask questions too.

knowledge

Learning a New Language: Recruiting can be similar to learning a language. The best way to learn a new language is to jump in and immerse yourself and don’t worry about taking any test.  There’s one thing that I see a lot of people do and it’s attempt to learn everything possible and study before going out and speaking with people.  It is kind of like getting ready to get ready.  You can stay in that position way too long.  It’s perfectly acceptable to start talking to people just minutes after learning about it yourself.  That is what happened to me – my sponsor 10 years ago didn’t know anything either.  We just got excited together and went for it.  One approach is to say to the person, “I just came across this and I am really excited about this. Are you open to learning about it?”  And then point them to that tool that tells the story that you may not even know yet.

speaking

Saying Too Much: If you’re speaking with a fair amount of prospects but the recruiting results just aren’t there, this may be the reason.  You want to extend an invitation to join your team.  You may run into over talking if you’re attempting to explain, or worse, try to convince people.  If you feel the conversation gearing towards explanations and convincing, you may want to ask a few questions to get them speaking more and gear the talk towards their inquiries.  Find out what they are looking for and let that help you move the conversation to providing a solution for what they need or want in their life.

Stance: Your own stance on Network Marketing may be an indicator for why your recruitment activities result in successes or failures.  If the recruitment attempt turns into a defense of what our industry does and the person you are talking to thinks “that it doesn’t work”,  then your conversion rate will be low.  You need to believe in what you’re doing and not be deterred or get defensive.  Don’t try to convince someone or bully them into thinking the way you do.  Sometimes taking something away from people and saying “You’re right.  This probably isn’t for you.  Glad it is for me though.”  Build up your confidence by surrounding yourself with others that have had success and do attend networking events.  This is a work in progress.  You will always get better.  We were all terrible at our first home parties or presentations.  Some funny memories of those first ones!  But you know what, our guests didn’t know any better and we knew more than they did.  Which wasn’t much!

Consistency: Being consistent is key.  Attempt to work consistently for at least 5 to 10 hours each week.  Picture the employee that you would want; are you the employee you would give a raise to or are you the employee you think you should let go?  Would you hire yourself? Going in and out of your business is a terrible and painful way to get this going.  Do you want to build steady and have fun?  Then be consistent!

Follow Up: The saying is the fortune is in the follow up.  It is so true!  This will make or break your Network Marketing success. You will be speaking with a lot of people while attempting to recruit new members but don’t forget to follow up with the people you have already spoken with.  Allow time each day for follow up and follow through.  Follow up immediately but also keep in mind to follow up down the road as well.  A lot of people say no meaning not right now but you won’t know that if you don’t call them back numerous times.  Have fun with it.  When you call them back say with a smile on your face “It’s your  monthly call from me – anything changed yet?”   Today, take a look at some of the leads you have talked to over the last six months and call them to tell them about a success story or a great personal experience with your products.  Keep your follow up organized.  If it is a mess and all over the place, you are much less likely to make the calls.   And it could be that one call to that one person that makes all the difference!

I truly love the lifestyle of network marketing. In the corporate world, we are trained to leave our personal life at home. In this industry the more personal and genuine we are, the more successful we will be. Last tip here:  Bring your unique and shining personality to your network marketing business!

How to Be Consistent in Five Steps

Consistency is Key

Learning how to be consistent is the best way to achieve long-term greatness in anything you do – from taking care of your health, your network marketing business or your relationships. However, learning how to be consistent is also the one thing that we humans have the most difficult time perfecting! It is most difficult when we are trying to improve something in our life. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to learn to be consistent in anything we do. In network marketing, consistency translates into making more money and creating the life you really want!

Here are just a few simple steps to learn if you want to improve an aspect in your life and become more consistent with anything you do. Set time aside for actions that will get you further in your career or your personal life. Those goals are definitely worth working on. The rewards are huge and you will never be disappointed. Here are five steps to learn how to be more consistent.

How to Be Consistent

5 Steps on the Road to Consistency

1. Remember to keep THE WHY you are trying to achieve your goals if you are going to stay connected to what you are doing. It is very important if you are going to have a clear compelling vision of what you’re trying to achieve and know why you want to. VISUALIZE the house you want, the car you wish to drive, the life you want for you and your family. This will fuel your fire. I am a big fan of dream boards.  I have a dream board for every major area of my life.  One of these days I am going to create a video showing you my dream boards that I created years ago and show you what has come true from those visions.

2. Do not make a generalized plan to “be more consistent.” It is important to pick your battles carefully. Just pick one or two things that you want to work on and stick with it. It is just a common fact that all of us have a limited capacity when it comes to will power and discipline. For example, a doctor or therapist will recommend that you don’t try to quit something like consuming sweets and drinking at the same time – otherwise you might fail at both. Instead, try to be more consistent with JUST ONE particular aspect of your life, like making more prospect phone calls. Setting specific goals will give you something to strive for. We just can’t achieve everything at once otherwise we will overwhelm ourselves.

3. It is important that you create space in your schedule to work on your goals. Stephen Covey, the highly regarded author of the best-selling “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” once said, “Don’t prioritize your schedule, schedule your priorities.” That distinction may be subtle, but it is also very important. If you are trying to make a specific activity or trait more consistent in your life, you have to build your whole life around it rather then trying to fit it in your normal daily schedule. For example, if you are trying to to build your network marketing business, it is important to set aside a few hours or more each day to do so.  None of us think we have enough time, yet we do find time for the most important things.  If you aren’t getting to something, it may be because you haven’t decided that it is really important to you.

How to Be Consistent with your schedule.

How to Be More Consistent

4. You have to improve your willpower and ignore your feelings. That is, you need to ignore that voice in your head that says: “I don’t feel like it!” Anytime you are trying to be consistent at something that is important to you, you will sometimes hear that little voice. You have to train yourself to overpower that voice in your head if you want to learn how to be consistent. You just cannot be consistent without improving your willpower and remembering that you have to practice whatever it is you are trying to improve over and over again, even if you don’t feel like it. It is also important to ignore the negative voices inside your head. You know, those voices that say: “I can’t do this,” or “I can’t seem to stick with this!” or “I’m too lazy!” Just keep working on it and you will get better. Remember, that it is okay if the changes are occurring slowly – it is impossible to be perfect at everything.  One of the biggest mistakes we make in our network marketing business is not giving it enough time – both short term time and long term time.  You have to carve out the time and decide it is unconditional.

5. Most important of all: be realistic – it takes time to practice! Keep in mind that you won’t start out always being consistent 100% of the time but that’s okay. Be kind to yourself! Don’t think that if you miss one workout or one day meeting prospects, that it was a waste. It is okay to fall off the wagon time and time again – everyone does. Just don’t think that because you fell off the wagon that you can’t catch up… you just need to run and catch up to it!  What is that old saying – “It isn’t about how many times you fall down.  It is about how many times you get back up!”

How to Make Money with Network Marketing Companies

How to make money with network marketing companies!

In a recent interview about network marketing, I realized just how far I have come in this industry and how grateful I am for all of the experiences!  I discussed my early beginnings with Simon Chang of MLM nation and how I have built my business over the past 9 plus years with attraction marketing. From starting with zero contacts, to managing a team of well over 10,000, I share with you everything I know that has made me a Diamond, not once, but TWICE. If you are just getting started with one of the many network marketing companies, this interview is the ultimate overview of how to make money and succeed.

My Transition from the Corporate World to Network Marketing Companies

I had great experiences working in the corporate world, but realized I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I then became a real estate agent and did well at that. It was a good way to make a living, but it still wasn’t satisfying. I was still at the beck and call of of my clients and what I really wanted was time freedom. When the real estate market turn a turn for the worst, I started looking for other things I could do. I didn’t plan on being a network marketer. I got a phone call in 2006 and I am very grateful I did!

We are always going to have ups and downs. The first few months with my mlm company were pretty rough, but by keeping my vision and just keeping my eye on what’s ahead, I was able to pull out ahead. Stay focused on activities not results. If you keep developing these skills, you will succeed.

Pro tip: Don’t compare yourself to other people! You can do this, just stay consistent. This is actually true with anything and everything.

Don’t Give Up – Give Your Business Enough Time!

I have probably gotten about 300 no’s in my past 9 years with both companies. I have figured it out that each NO paid me about $20,000 each.  So was it worth it to actually get so many no’s! Absolutely!  All of these NO’s led to the YES’s that I need.  It only takes a few great YES’s to really do very very well in our business.  The trick is finding those people you can run with.  I am grateful for the NO’s because they led to the YES’s! Another great thing I found, is that if you make a list of these no’s, and check back in with them, sometimes people change their minds over time.  People are absolutely watching you to see if this is something you are really serious about and that you stay with it.  They often come around when they see you are still committed and excited about it over time.

Time efficiency is very important in this profession. We end up spending time with the people who we think need it, however, we should be giving the time to the people who deserve it. Real estate gave me the business owner mentality. Being an employee is a different mindset – often you are waiting for someone to tell you what to do.  You own your own business in network marketing so make sure you are thinking like an owner!

Building a network marketing business is just like building your own business. It’s up to us! It’s here for the asking, it’s here for the taking – the rest is up to you! There will be those days you want to quit, but if you keep doing those activities, it will be rewarding when you see how mlm can change your life and other people’s lives.

Network Marketing Companies Thrive Online!

The internet and social media has helped people see the value of network marketing in their lives. I have fully embraced all the technology available today to build this business.  I spend a lot of time and effort building my social network.  There are so many more ways to build this business besides home parties and meeting in coffee shops. If your company has a global platform, you truly can build your business all over the world.

I suggest using attraction marketing. Attraction marketing is creating an online presence where people find you. How you do that is if you provide value and content on a regular basis, then they will naturally want be around you. Often times what happens is people go online and start posting images of their products all the time, it starts to look like spam. Post things that are valuable to people and the leads will come to you.

In this business, the company does all the hard stuff. They create the product, the run the warehouse, they handle the invoicing. We do the fun part. We get to do the telling about it part.  We get to share great products and a business opportunity. We share hope and in the world we live in today – do you know anyone that needs some hope and a better way?

The best piece of advice I ever got…”You will know who the builders are by the questions they ask!” It takes away that pressure, we aren’t trying to force people to join. I don’t try to convince anyone of anything.  You are looking for the people that want this and are just praying that someone tells them about something just like this.  They may not know the answer is going to come in the form of a network marketing company but they realize it when they hear it that this is the answer they were looking for.  We don’t need to chase or hunt people down. Along the way, look for people who are OPEN and ask the builder-type questions.

If I had to start all over from scratch, the first thing I would do is make a list of all of the motivated, ambitious self-starter types of people I know. If someone sits at home all night watching TV, they probably won’t have enough motivation to do this. Talk to business owners, join networking events, join some mastermind groups. I would want to be around people who were motivated and looking for more in life.  I would start blogging. I would post on social media. If I didn’t have an online presence, I would create one.

Stay consistent…

My last piece of advice…is to give this enough time! It takes sacrifice and looking at what you are currently doing and ….Do it consistently. People often underestimate how much time it will take.  My first two years in the business weren’t easy at all.  There was lots to learn and lots to figure out but I can’t imagine my life today had I not given this business model the time it deserves.  Over time you can and will be amazed with what you can create.

“Consistent action over time creates extraordinary results.” – Zig Ziglar. Actions have to be consistent, give it time and the results will amaze you. MLM is a chance for people to become leaders, to create financial freedom and schedule flexibility. I feel incredibly blessed for my life, my success and the incredible team of people I get to work with!  And travel with all over the world!

Getting Started in Network Marketing

Learn how to get started in network marketing from the experts.

I was honored to be interviewed last month by legendary Ray Higdon – Network Marketing Top Earner and Coach. During our interview, I shared some of my best tips to help people who are getting started in the network marketing industry. By sharing my personal experiences, I hope I offered insight into the mlm world and how it is different from the work environment people experience in the corporate world. We also discussed the most important things you need to do when getting started in network marketing. Here are some of the highlights from our interview that I KNOW can make your business more successful!

Network Marketing Tips from the Pros!

The key to the network marketing business is consistency. I love the saying, “Consistent action over time will create extraordinary results.” The activities we have to do to build this business, they are simple. They’re not easy, but they are simple. If you just keep doing the activities and learn the skill set, sooner or later you will be successful in network marketing. The art of inviting, how to close, how to lead people to a decision, how to run a one-on-on, how to host a home party, how to create a following on Facebook and social media – these are skills you need to learn.

It’s like learning a language. The best way to learn a new language is to jump in and immerse yourself. In this industry, you don’t have to take a test. You don’t have to worry about getting ready to get ready. That’s one thing I see a lot of people do. They think they need to learn everything and study before they go out and talk to people. It’s ok to start talking to people literally minutes after you’ve just heard about it. You can say to the person, “I just came across this and I am really excited about this. Are you open to learning about it?”  And then point them to a tool.  Become a professional pointer of tools.

How consistent are you?

Be consistent. I encourage people to spend at least 5 to 10 hours a week working consistently. You need to be the employee you want to give the raise to; the one that you would never fire.  Would you hire you?  Would you give you a raise?  Coming in and out of your business is slow and a painful way to get this going.  Success loves speed.  Momentum happens when you give this bursts of energy and time.
For those who have about 10 people on their team so far…Do you have a running buddy yet? Find a good partner and work with them to help get them going. Then just keep talking to people. This is a sifting and sorting business. There are lots of people you will attract when you have a good product. There are a lot of people who you will attract that want to be customers. We all love our customers, and you are looking for the person who is asking the right questions. You are looking for a people person – someone that is a connector. You are looking for the person who says, “I get this. I am interested. I want to learn more about it!” It takes a handful of running buddies to get your business going. You may have to talk to 200 people to enroll 40 people. If you sponsor 40, the way the law of averages usually works, you will have your handful to run with.  You can change your lives and many others with that handful of partners.  It takes time to find your real running partners.
